A Diary From Kuching

I arrived in Sibu Airport around 9.30am. My flight was 11.30am. So I got plenty of time to hang around. After checked in my luggage, I bought a copy of The Star and went to the cafe on the first floor.

I ordered laksa but the lady at the counter said laksa was unavailable. Then I ordered fried rice. Still unreliable it was the cafe, they forgot my order again.  This kind of lousy cafe usually survive only when they are the monopoly in a place with no competition. And to be in a place with no competition, its usually you-know-who can always get the license. That’s why they never learned the definition of the word efficiency. Yup, as our new found porn movie director, Namewee, used to call them in his previous controversial vidoe clip Negarakuku, they are still sucklings, either their wives or their mums. Or their spouse of the same gender.

RainyIt was sunny until 11.00am.

MeReady to take the flight.

PlaneNice, clean and newer Airasia plane compared to MAS’. For a free orange juice, the fare between these two could differ up to RM150.

WeatherOn the sky.

WeatherHeavy cloud welcomed us as we approached Kuching International Airport.

MistLooks as if the scene in the movie The Mist.

LunchAfter checked in my luggage I headed to Wisma Saberkas. After spent the whole afternoon there, I had my dinner in Hong Kong Noodle House which was nearby to my hotel. That’s Hokkien Mee, Tom Yam and cucumber juice. Nice! I ordered curry fish head for take away. Total was RM33.30. My lucky number for that day.

HotelGreen and red, they are ready for Christmas perhaps. The dustbin is clear and clean. Glad it was. They used to have an used condom inside in my first stay here back in year 2007. Geee… Mind you, the green and red twin are murderous. It almost get me killed when I was having my bath.

SupperSugar free apple juice, yogurts, pears and curry fish head. These were my supper. I didn’t finish the apple juice because it have those iron taste and I kept one pear for breakfast in the next morning.

RoomThis is how a RM55 room looked like. I love the troley where the tv was sitting on. I can watch tv while taking my bath.

RainA cool and rainy night. The absent of water heater made the night cooler after I took my first cold bath in the last 6 months.

MeAfter took my bath.

MeSecond day. Getting ready for my business in SGH.

MeI’m ready.

LiftAfter ate my pear, I went down. The elevator looked antic to me. I don’t mind, as long as it didn’t trap me inside.

Kolo meeKolo Mee. I finished only half. It’s just too oily. If I’m much healthier, I don’t mind to have it all.  Anyway it tasted good.

kolo meeClose up.

Cyber CafeA very lousy cyber cafe in Wisma Saberkas. I headed there as soon as after my business in SGH was over.

LunchThis was interesting. My lunch at Hong Kong Noodle House @ Wisma Saberkas. The thing with gravy on the top was jelly fish. Next to it was mee hoon cooked with wine topped with a lot of prawns. After my food arrived, a family of four came and sat in the table next to me. Daddy, Mommy, a small boy and a small daughter. The chlildren was fascinated by all the prawns I could have by myself and Mummy was attracted by the jelly fish. Soon after their order of chicken rice and fried mee hoon arrived, they added a plate of jelly fish. The children’s craving, however was not entertained. So they kept glancing at mine and after I had finish with my food, the little boy came over and took a glance inside the bowl of mee hoon, probably to inspect if I did miss a prawn or two. Haha!

Hi TeaAfter my shopping and took mylunch, I headed to the hotel for a brief rest before I went to The Spring. I had my Irish style stew lamb in Secret Recipes. Delicious, but the gravy was rich with oil. They’re just so delicious that I choosed to lie to myself that it was okay to eat oily food once in a three months.

BoltLater at 4.30pm, I watched Bolt in Starcineplex. Yes, it was in the most colourful building in Kuching.

CinemaNice cinema, well decorated and its BIG.

BoltA very nice cartoon.

BirdviewAfter watching Bolt, I went out to take some fresh air. Nice scenery from up here.

Christmas TreeIt was 6.30pm and after I decided it was too early to go home, I caught my second movie – Tropic Thunder. The ticket was only RM5. And yes, the movie did not worth more than RM5. It was around 8.00pm ++ when I finished the movie. I walked back to my hotel after I dropped by at Parkson, Tun Jugah and Sarawak Plaza.

That concluded my day before I flew back to home sweet home the next morning. Something which irritated me in this trip was an old friendly taxi driver who kept over charged me, after he knew I was not from Kuching. I did not argue with him though, just pretend to be a idiot and let him overcharge me, twice. He was with the ABC City Cab and when I called thier general number, the taxi driver they sent over was just like a box of chocolate, you never know who was sent.

This old man was lucky though, the first time was from Saberkas back to my hotel. He was one of the random taxi who was waiting in front of the building. I thought I will never see his dirty old face anymore but I was proven wrong when he was the one who waiting in front of my hotel on the day I’m flying back to Sibu. He won’t be lucky all the time though. I will report him to the authorities, in written, if I were to meet him and found him over charge me again in my next trip. That really do need some luck, isn’t it?

You-know-who… do you read Harry Potter?

Negaraku’s original piece — Mamula Moon, no doubt, is one of the heart-melting oldies. But, our Negaraku… the feel… may be, the problem is: we just cannot sing as good as Felix Mendelssohn and his Hawaiian Serenaders.

Wow, this is the first time someone actually told me the history of our Negaraku! Bravo~

Why are you worrying about You-Know-Who?
    You SHOULD be worrying about
the constipation sensation that’s gripping the nation!

    Cheers! ^^
